Machine Operator
The job of a machine operator involves a broad range of duties. These range from operating machinery and ensuring the smooth production of product to loading and unloading vehicles, cleaning, maintenance and other key responsibilities. This role reports to the Team Leader.
Key responsibilities include:
●Operate appropriate machinery, plant and forklift trucks, as required, to always maintain the safe and efficient operation of the site.
●Ensuring production targets are met by optimising throughput whilst working as a team with other operators and site staff.
●Ensuring that plant and machinery is maintained to required standards, including daily & weekly checks, re-fuelling, lubrication and greasing, and that defects and breakdowns are promptly recorded and reported.
●Maintain a safe working environment throughout your activities, including keeping working area tidy and access to walkways and emergency exits clear.
●Checking of incoming loads, ensuring compliance with site licence, and permitted waste types.
●Immediately report: any contamination or non-conforming wastes delivered to site; accidents, incidents, and near misses; environmental hazards; health & safety breaches to the appropriate Manager.
●Ensure appropriate safety equipment and PPE is always used.
●Undertake any training necessary to perform other tasks including operation of other plant and equipment and/or supervisory duties if required.
●Carry out any other duties as instructed to guarantee a smooth-running operation.Experience in a similar role would be an advantage but not essential as full training will be given. The successful candidates must possess the following:
●Hold a current Forklift truck licence.
●To be physically fit and to have good stamina as heavy lifting may be involved.
●To be hardworking and have a strong work ethic.
●To be able to work well in a team.
●Mechanical breakdown experience would be an advantage.
